About this training

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are common, treatable and too often missed. Many parents never tell anyone how hard it is, and many clinicians were never taught what to look for.

This course is a practical guide to recognizing, screening for and treating PMADs, so you can feel confident when a pregnant or postpartum client walks into your office.

Learning objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. 1Differentiate the baby blues from postpartum depression, perinatal anxiety, perinatal OCD, bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis
  2. 2Administer and interpret common perinatal screening tools, including the EPDS
  3. 3Identify risk factors and protective factors for PMADs
  4. 4Outline evidence-based treatment options and when to refer for medication evaluation or a higher level of care
